ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain convened a meeting of the Sugar Advisory Board to assess sugarcane crop estimates and strategize for the 2024-25 season. Key decisions to enhance production, stabilize prices, and promote sustainable industry growth were reached during the meeting.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the meeting noted a significant increase in sugar production in January 2025 compared to December 2024. Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain urged sugar millers to invest in research and development to boost production capacity and ensure the industry’s long-term growth.
The Minister highlighted the importance of fair compensation for farmers to encourage increased sugarcane cultivation, aiming to further boost sugar production. He announced plans for strict action against hoarding, working with provincial governments to ensure consumer protection.
Rana Tanveer Hussain reaffirmed the government’s commitment to controlling essential commodity prices and maintaining market stability. The meeting included participation from relevant officials, sugar millers, and stakeholders who contributed suggestions for improving sugarcane production and industry resilience.
