ISLAMABAD: The Sub-Committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting convened at PTV Headquarters to assess the progress of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority’s (FGEHA) plot allocation scheme for journalists and media professionals. The meeting, led by Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi, examined the implementation status of previous recommendations concerning the distribution of plots and flats under the scheme.
According to Senate of Pakistan, the session included participation from Senator Jan Muhammad and officials from relevant authorities. The General Secretary of the Press Club Islamabad informed the committee that the Ministry was cooperating with the sub-committee and that the project had moved into its second phase after completing the first. Journalists present at the meeting voiced their concerns, receiving assurances from the sub-committee that their issues would be addressed.
Senator Mehdi emphasized the need for transparency and directed that all stakeholders be engaged in the process. He instructed that lists of eligible candidates be published on relevant websites, including the Press Club’s, to ensure openness. Officials from the Ministry were tasked with submitting pertinent rules and regulations to the committee. Senator Mehdi assured that the sub-committee’s recommendations would be finalized by the end of the month, with a follow-up meeting scheduled to ensure continued progress.
