State Terrorism Grips Jammu and Kashmir: Fear and Detentions Emerge as New Norm

Srinagar: In the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has accused the Indian government of fostering an atmosphere of fear and terror. The group claims that these actions are aimed at stifling the ongoing Kashmir Freedom Movement.

According to a statement from APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, New Delhi is targeting Hurriyat leaders and activists by employing stringent legal measures. He pointed out that the authorities are invoking draconian laws, such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, the Public Safety Act, and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, against these individuals.

Recent reports suggest that raids on the homes of Hurriyat leaders, activists, and ordinary citizens have become increasingly common. These operations lead to detentions and the confiscation of properties, leaving many in the region to navigate life under a pervasive sense of oppression.

Minhas emphasized that these actions should serve as an alert to the international community, highlighting the severe conditions faced by residents in the region. The APHC’s statement underscores the broader tensions and challenges in IIOJK, as efforts to suppress dissent continue to unfold.
