Islamabad: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced plans to celebrate Women Entrepreneurship Day (WED) on November 19, 2024, at its headquarters in Islamabad. The event, set to be inaugurated by SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad, aims to honor the pivotal role of women entrepreneurs in the national economy and promote greater inclusion in the business sector.
According to State Bank of Pakistan, the celebration will gather top officials from commercial banks, non-bank financial institutions, and women’s working associations. The day will be marked by the presentation of recognition awards to banks that have excelled in providing loans to female entrepreneurs and to women-led businesses that have made notable strides in various sectors.
The event’s agenda includes an array of on-ground and virtual activities spread across Pakistan, designed to foster an environment that supports women entrepreneurs. These initiatives comprise workshops, awareness campaigns about SME financing options available through SBP, and mentorship programs aimed at enhancing business skills and loan eligibility for women.
WED, a global initiative, focuses on supporting women who contribute significantly to innovation, job creation, and economic growth by overcoming challenges in accessing finance and business opportunities. With this celebration, the SBP seeks to inspire and empower more women to embark on entrepreneurial ventures and excel in a competitive market.
