ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Standing Committee on Human Rights highlighted concerns over the inefficiency of Law Enforcement Agencies in tackling the increasing incidents of rape and sexual harassment. The session, which took place in Committee Room No. 7 at the Parliament House, was chaired by Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, MNA.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the Committee expressed dissatisfaction with the current measures and urged government officials to implement stricter enforcement of existing laws. The Committee emphasized the need for improved collaboration between various ministries and departments responsible for human rights protection to achieve effective outcomes.

During the discussions, the Committee addressed the cases involving the murders of Hina Javed and Ayat Noor, as well as the harassment of Dr. Ayesha. The Committee criticized the lack of action taken against the perpetrators and called on the Ministry of Interior to ensure these individuals are apprehended and brought to justice.

The Committee was also updated on the status of investigations into the aforementioned cases and recommended that local parliamentarians from the areas where the incidents occurred work closely with law enforcement to facilitate transparent investigations.

The meeting saw attendance from Members of the National Assembly and senior officials from relevant ministries and departments.
