Islamabad: A week-long anti-polio campaign is set to begin in 79 selected districts across the nation tomorrow, aiming to vaccinate approximately 19 million children under the age of five. According to National Emergency Operations Centre, the campaign will conclude on the 24th of this month.
In Punjab, the initiative will focus on vaccinating nearly 6.19 million children across ten districts. Sindh will see efforts to administer anti-polio drops to approximately 5.79 million children in twenty districts. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the campaign will target 4.61 million children in twenty-three districts, while in Balochistan, around 1.99 million children across twenty-five districts will receive the vaccine. Additionally, in the federal capital, about 450,000 children are expected to be vaccinated during this period.
The government has assured comprehensive security measures for the polio teams conducting door-to-door visits to administer the drops.
