Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has emphasized the significant role of tourism in bolstering Pakistan’s economy, generating employment, and enhancing the country’s global image. In a message marking World Tourism Day, he underscored Pakistan’s untapped potential due to its natural beauty, historical sites, and cultural diversity.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Sadiq pointed out the importance of Pakistan’s Northern areas, the ancient Indus Valley, and the Gandhara Civilisation as key cultural and tourism assets. He highlighted that the sector’s development could boost the national economy and create entrepreneurial opportunities for local communities, youth, and women. This year’s theme, “Tourism and the Digital Agenda for Redefining Tourism,” was noted as an opportunity to leverage technology for enhancing tourist services.

Sadiq also stressed the necessity of improving infrastructure, communication networks, and basic facilities at tourist sites, alongside the protection of natural and cultural heritage. He called for collaboration between federal and provincial governments, institutions, and the private sector to promote tourism. Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah echoed these sentiments, emphasizing tourism’s potential to strengthen local economies and the importance of sustainable practices.
