ISLAMABAD: The first meeting of the Council of National Coordinators of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is set to take place in Islamabad from September 28 to 30, 2026. This gathering marks the beginning of Pakistan’s term as the Chair of the SCO Council of Heads of State for 2026-27. The event will be chaired by Pakistan’s National Coordinator and will include the participation of National Coordinators from SCO Member States, alongside representatives from the SCO Secretariat.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Coordinators will address a variety of topics concerning SCO cooperation and coordination. This includes discussing the program of activities during Pakistan’s Chairmanship, preparing for upcoming SCO meetings and events, and other agenda items pertinent to the Organization.

As the chair, Pakistan aims to further the objectives of the SCO under the theme “Turning Vision into Action: Connectivity, Innovation and Shared Prosperity.” The focus will be on improving connectivity, fostering innovation, enhancing economic cooperation, and strengthening people-to-people contacts. These efforts are designed to translate the shared vision of the Member States into practical initiatives. Pakistan plans to collaborate closely with all Member States and the SCO Secretariat to advance these priorities and reinforce cooperation within the SCO.

This meeting represents a significant engagement under Pakistan’s Chairmanship and is expected to contribute to the preparations for various high-level engagements, including the upcoming meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State, which Pakistan will host in August 2027.
