ISLAMABAD: A parliamentary delegation from South Sudan, led by Deputy Speaker Kornelio Kon Ngu, met with Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, to discuss enhancing bilateral relations. The meeting focused on the potential for increased trade, economic collaboration, and parliamentary diplomacy between the two nations.
According to a statement by National Assembly of Pakistan, Speaker Sadiq emphasized South Sudan’s important role in Africa. He highlighted that Pakistan was among the first countries to recognize South Sudan’s independence in 2011. Speaker Sadiq proposed free training opportunities for South Sudanese legislators at the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services, aiming to strengthen South Sudan’s legislative capabilities and promote knowledge exchange.
Deputy Speaker Ngu praised Pakistan’s contributions to global peace, particularly through its peacekeeping forces in the United Nations mission in South Sudan. He expressed appreciation for the cooperation between the two countries and the hospitality shown to the South Sudanese delegation, noting that the visit underscored the strong relationship between the nations.
