South Sudan Delegation Explores Pakistan Ties, Backs Kashmir and Palestine Support


Islamabad: In a high-level meeting at Parliament House, Rana Qasim Noon, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, discussed potential economic collaborations with a South Sudanese delegation led by Mr. Kornelio Kon Ngu Akuck, Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly of South Sudan. Mr. Noon highlighted Pakistan’s rich agricultural resources and burgeoning tourism sector as areas ripe for economic strengthening and international trade expansion.



According to a statement by National Assembly of Pakistan, the discussions emphasized the importance of Pakistan’s recognition of South Sudan in 2011, setting the stage for enhanced bilateral relations. Mr. Noon outlined opportunities for collaboration in education, agriculture, and vocational training, suggesting these partnerships could support South Sudan’s economic and social development. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to advocating for Kashmir and Palestine, urging global attention to the ongoing human rights violations in these regions.



Rana Qasim Noon also spoke about Pakistan’s “Look Africa” policy, aimed at fostering diplomatic and trade relations with African nations. This approach underscores the strategic importance of building sustainable partnerships and enhancing people-to-people connections. Mr. Noon stressed that Africa’s potential makes it a key focus for Pakistan’s future diplomatic and economic strategies.



Mr. Kornelio Kon Ngu Akuck expressed South Sudan’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in agriculture and education. He highlighted mutual opportunities for trade and human resource development, aligning with South Sudan’s aspirations for economic growth. Mr. Akuck supported Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir and Palestine, condemning the human rights abuses in these regions, and expressed optimism about the benefits of a strong bilateral relationship.



The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing on the potential for a robust and mutually beneficial partnership, signaling a promising future for Pakistan-South Sudan relations.
