South Sudan Delegation Engages with Pakistan’s Parliamentary Taskforce on SDGs


Islamabad: A delegation from South Sudan, led by Deputy Speaker Mr. Komelio Kon Ngu Akuck, engaged in discussions with the Parliamentary SDGs Taskforce at the SDGs Secretariat in Parliament House. The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation between South Sudan and Pakistan.



According to a statement by National Assembly of Pakistan, the South Sudanese delegation included Mr. Kom Kom Geng, Member of Parliament, Ambassador Sajjad Hussain Shahid, Mr. William Dogumo Agon, and Mr. James Marboto Katas. Pakistan’s side was represented by Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, Mr. Syed Hafeezuddin, and Ms. Shaista Pervaiz. The meeting covered topics such as security, women’s roles in Parliament, sustainable business, and trade opportunities.



One key discussion point was enhancing Parliamentary friendship groups to promote cultural exchange and strengthen ties. The South Sudanese delegation expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s hospitality and countered negative media portrayals, acknowledging Pakistan’s commitment to peace and prosperity.



The meeting concluded with an invitation from the South Sudanese delegation to Pakistan’s Parliament members to visit South Sudan, aiming to further solidify diplomatic and economic relations.
