Sindh Ombudsman Achieves Record Complaint Intake and Relief in 2025


KARACHI: The Office of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh announced a significant milestone with the reception of 25,217 public complaints in 2025, marking a 236 percent increase from previous years. The office successfully resolved 8,789 cases, providing financial relief amounting to Rs4.29 billion to affected citizens.



According to Chief Minister Sindh, the Annual Report 2025 was presented by Provincial Ombudsman Dr. Sohail Rajput, highlighting the strides made in complaint management and resolution. The report detailed the elevated intake of complaints, with 16,363 cases admitted for investigation and 12,591 resolved after thorough examination, resulting in substantial monetary benefits for the public.



The report emphasized the effectiveness of the Complaint Management System (CMS), a digital platform allowing for online complaint registration and tracking. By March 31, 2025, over 7,611 complaints had been registered through CMS, enhancing transparency and accountability. Most complaints were against local government institutions, with significant numbers also involving the Revenue, School Education, and Police Departments.



Efforts to extend justice included 423 public forums and 120 awareness sessions, aiding in the informal resolution of 2,660 grievances. Digital engagement was bolstered through an updated website and social media presence, alongside the dissemination of approximately 31 million SMS messages to inform citizens about complaint processes.



The report also highlighted collaborations through the Brand Ambassador and Internship Programmes, engaging students from various universities in building awareness and gaining practical experience. Partnerships with civil society organizations were formed to provide legal aid and support to marginalized communities.



Notable initiatives included the establishment of a Climate and Disaster Justice Unit and committees for disability rights, alongside international recognition for Dr. Rajput’s leadership roles. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah lauded the Ombudsman’s contributions to governance and reaffirmed government support for enhancing transparency and service delivery.
