Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has placed the province on high alert as heavy monsoon rains continue to wreak havoc in several districts, resulting in fatalities, flooding, and infrastructure damage. According to Chief Minister Sindh, the provincial administration has been directed to bolster emergency preparedness and response efforts, with a focus on safeguarding lives and maintaining public services during the monsoon spell.

The Chief Minister chaired a high-level meeting at the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) office, reviewing weather forecasts and field reports alongside senior officials and commissioners from affected divisions. He emphasized the need for district administrations and civic agencies to intensify relief, drainage, and rescue operations, particularly in Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas, which are expected to receive more rainfall.

In response to the ongoing emergency, the Chief Minister ordered the suspension of the Town Municipal Officer in Umerkot for being absent from duty. He stressed that all officers must remain stationed in their respective areas to manage the crisis effectively. The meeting was informed that eight people have died and eight others were injured in rain-related incidents across the province. The Chief Minister expressed condolences and instructed officials to provide immediate assistance to affected families and ensure compensation is provided in line with government policy.
