Punjab Police Heighten Security Measures During Christian Church Services

Lahore: Punjab Police maintained heightened security throughout Christian worship and prayer services held across the province, including in Lahore. Officers and personnel remained vigilant as part of a comprehensive security strategy.

According to Punjab Police, Inspector General Police Punjab Abdul Kareem had previously issued directives to Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and senior police officials to reinforce the security of churches. The instructions included personal inspections of security arrangements by supervisory officers at churches, important sites, and sensitive locations. The orders also called for additional deployment of police personnel and snipers at sensitive churches, with teams from the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force tasked to ensure effective patrolling around these areas.

Inspector General Kareem emphasized the importance of police officers and personnel remaining highly alert and maintaining strict surveillance to monitor potential threats. He also directed that search and sweep operations around churches, Christian neighborhoods, and sensitive locations should continue. Additionally, he urged religious scholars, the Christian community, and members of peace committees to foster interfaith harmony.
