Sindh Chief Minister Orders Immediate Resumption of Work on Hyderabad Flyover

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed relevant departments to expedite the completion of the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Flyover in Hyderabad, with an expected opening by early July. This decision was made during a meeting aimed at addressing delays in the project.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the order was given during a meeting where the chief minister emphasized the project’s importance for reducing traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity in Hyderabad. The meeting included key figures such as Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, Planning and Development Minister Jam Khan Shoro, and Works and Services Minister Haji Ali Hassan Zardari, among others. Despite land acquisition being completed in 2018, the project faced setbacks due to litigation and other challenges. The chief minister instructed the Local Government, Works and Services, and Planning and Development departments to collaborate closely to ensure no further delays. Minister Haji Ali Hassan Zardari committed to personally overseeing the project’s timely completion.

Murad Ali Shah reiterated the project’s significance and urged resolution of any technical and administrative obstacles. The flyover is part of a federally funded road scheme initially designed to connect Hyderabad Bypass to Ghangra Mori. The provincial government has already completed significant civil works, including the casting of bridge girders. The chief minister plans to visit Hyderabad in July to inaugurate the flyover, underscoring the urgency of the project’s completion.
