Sibi Officials Prepare for Monsoon Season with Comprehensive Flood Mitigation Measures

Sibi: In anticipation of the upcoming monsoon season, a pivotal meeting chaired by Commissioner SP Division Syed Zahid Shah was convened to discuss and implement crucial flood prevention strategies across the region. The session saw extensive participation from key district officials and department heads, all coordinating through a video link to fortify the division against potential natural disasters.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting provided a platform for a thorough briefing on the prepared monsoon response plans by respective departments. Commissioner Shah emphasized the urgency of completing all preliminary measures promptly to mitigate the effects of potential heavy rains, winds, and flooding. He urged that machinery and personnel from relevant departments remain on high alert and that all necessary precautions be taken to prevent urban flooding and ensure the safety of riverside and canal communities.

Specifically, Commissioner Shah called for regular inspections of safety dams and immediate attention to vulnerable embankments. He highlighted the need for the district administration to intensify actions against illegal constructions and encroachments that exacerbate flood risks along rivers and drainage channels.

Furthermore, the Commissioner stressed the importance of pre-arranging adequate supplies of food, water, and medicine to efficiently manage and minimize the impacts of flooding on the population. He instructed district officers to remain stationed at their posts during the monsoon period to oversee the implementation of safety measures and respond swiftly to any emergencies that may arise.

This proactive approach reflects Sibi’s commitment to safeguarding its residents and infrastructure from the severe challenges posed by the monsoon season and ensuring a coordinated response across all levels of government.
