Islamabad: The Senate Sub-Committee on Devolution convened to examine the implementation of constitutional provisions focusing on equitable provincial representation within federal services and resource management boards. Led by Senator Zamir Hussain Ghumro, the committee discussed staffing in federal institutions and the inclusion of provinces in the governance of oil and gas entities.
According to Senate of Pakistan, the meeting scrutinized the distribution of federal employees among provinces and urged the Establishment Division to address disparities, particularly highlighting 3,384 vacancies in Balochistan. The Committee also called for updates on provincial representation in oil and gas company boards, stressing adherence to constitutional mandates for shared governance between the federal government and provinces.
Senator Ghumro emphasized the constitutional requirement for equitable provincial participation and directed relevant divisions to deliver comprehensive reports within a week. The meeting underscored the necessity of ensuring that appointments and board compositions reflect the contributions and rights of all provinces, particularly resource-rich regions like Sindh and Balochistan.
