ISLAMABAD: The Senate today passed a resolution recognizing the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, emphasizing the importance of continued partnership for mutual benefit and socio-economic development. The resolution, moved by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, highlighted the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and affirmed the strong, enduring relationship between the two nations.

According to Radio Pakistan, the resolution acknowledged the fraternal ties between Pakistan and China, built on mutual trust, respect, and shared aspirations for peace and development. It appreciated China’s support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the one-China principle. The resolution also highlighted the growing cooperation in political, economic, and cultural spheres.

The session was attended by a Chinese delegation led by Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress, Cai Dafeng, who observed the proceedings. Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani welcomed the delegation, noting the visit as a testament to the strong and enduring goodwill between the two countries. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, in his address, underscored the robust economic and strategic partnership that has developed over the decades, with the China Pakistan Economic Corridor as a flagship project.

Dar also announced his forthcoming visit to China with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which they plan to engage with Chinese leadership and business enterprises. Important meetings, including the Pakistan China Political Forum and the CPEC joint consultative mechanism, are scheduled. The Senate session concluded with the House adjourned to meet again the following day.
