Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works has called for immediate briefings from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) regarding prolonged delays in federal housing schemes managed by the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) and the PHA Foundation (PHAF). Meeting under the chairmanship of Senator Nasir Mehmood, the committee expressed significant concern over the ongoing issues affecting allottees, emphasizing the need to protect their financial interests and legal rights.

According to Senate of Pakistan, a detailed briefing was presented by the Secretary for Housing and Works, outlining the status of various housing schemes. Among the key points addressed were the stalled Green Enclave-I project in Bara Kahu, Islamabad, and the Sky Garden Housing Scheme (Green Enclave-II) in Mauza Kathar and Mauza Mangal. Despite agreements and payments made as far back as 2008, allottees have yet to receive possession of their plots due to unresolved disputes. The committee decided to summon the NAB Chairman for a briefing on these issues in the next meeting.

The committee also reviewed the EHFPRO Lifestyle Residency Apartments in Islamabad’s Sector G-13, noting that while 70 percent of the work is complete, the project faces financial constraints and other disruptions. The FGEHA has taken over the project, aiming for revival through a Public-Private Partnership. The committee directed continuous reporting to ensure transparency in the project’s progress.

Further discussions included the PHA-F Residencia Project on Kuchlak Road, Quetta, and maintenance efforts at Federal Lodges. Progress and challenges in these areas were examined, with the committee stressing the need for consistent compliance with prior directives. The meeting was attended by several senators, the Secretary of Housing, and senior officials.
