Lahore, August 02, 2021 (PPI-OT):Secretary Tourism and Archaeology Department (TAD) Captain (r) Mushtaq Ahmed on Saturday has chaired an online meeting regarding Departmental Development Sub-Committee (DDSC). Archaeology Directorate briefed the meeting on 3 different schemes with an estimated cost of 190m related to restoration and preservation of tourist sites. The secretary was briefed on restoration process and the cost on conservation of Tulaja Fort, development of Multan Museum and establishment of Harappa Museum.
The Secretary Tourism directed for fencing of the area covering Tulaja Fort and basic public facilities to be provided for the tourist. “The tourism department aims to facilitate the tourists so that they can visit these sites with ease and enjoy the sight”, secretary tourism. The Secretary was also briefed about the deer observatory, facilitation centre and children ride and entertainment park at Hiran Minar, Sheikupura district.
Furthermore, the TAD secretary directed to recreate the Takht-e-babri garden with sitting arrangement and other facilities for the tourists. During the meeting, the MD TDCP briefed about Desert Safari and Indus Water Sports resort in Layyah district with an estimated cost of 34 million. The Secretary directed to ensure involvement of private sector to make investment and provide facilities to the public.
The meeting further discussed the un-approved development schemes of TDCP and Archaeology Directorate. Senior Chief (YASAT) P and D Salman Iftekhar Shami, Additional Secretary Kalsoom Saqib, Director General Archaeology Ilyas Gill, Managing Director TDCP Tanveer Jabbar and other officials attended the meeting.
