Salik Unveils National Emigration and Welfare Policy 2026

ISLAMABAD: The Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, has announced the National Emigration and Welfare Policy 2026, marking a strategic move in the country’s approach to labor migration. The policy, introduced in Islamabad, underscores Pakistan’s commitment to supporting its citizens working abroad and enhancing their contributions to the country’s economy.

According to Radio Pakistan, the minister emphasized the policy’s role in equipping Pakistani workers with essential skills and providing them with the necessary protection and support to thrive in an increasingly competitive global market. He highlighted the importance of collaboration among federal and provincial governments to ensure the policy’s success.

The initiative comes as approximately twelve million Pakistanis are employed overseas, contributing significantly to the national economy. Last year, these workers sent home around forty-one billion dollars in remittances, underscoring their vital role in supporting Pakistan’s financial stability. The policy aims to further bolster this contribution by ensuring that Pakistani workers are well-prepared and supported in their endeavors abroad.
