Romina Khurshid Alam Calls on Media to Highlight Climate Change Issues in Pakistan

Lahore: Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, emphasized the vulnerability of Pakistan to climate change impacts and called on media professionals to enhance public awareness by disseminating information on the issue. Speaking at a seminar focusing on the COP29 Simulation Program, Alam highlighted the critical role of media in tackling environmental challenges.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the seminar aimed to simulate discussions and decision-making processes related to climate change, akin to those that will occur at the upcoming Conference of Parties (COP29). Alam stressed the importance of informed media coverage on climate change to effectively communicate the urgency of the issue to the public and policymakers.

The Coordinator pointed out that as a country severely affected by climate-related disasters, Pakistan’s story needs to be shared widely to ensure both national and international collaboration in combating climate change effects.

The seminar also served as a platform for developing strategies that can be employed at international climate negotiations, preparing Pakistani representatives for meaningful participation and contribution at global forums such as COP29.
