ISLAMABAD: The Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, Dr. Dan Stoenescu, met with Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at his official residence in Islamabad, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations across various sectors. The meeting highlighted mutual interests in political, economic, and cultural cooperation, aiming to enhance ties between Pakistan and Romania.

According to Senate of Pakistan, Chairman Gilani expressed his appreciation for Romania’s cultural gesture of presenting a choral score of Pakistan’s National Anthem by the Madrigal-Marin Constantin Choir, underscoring the importance of cultural exchanges. He extended his good wishes to Romania’s new government, acknowledging Romania’s role in regional stability.

Emphasizing the historical roots of Pakistan-Romania relations, Chairman Gilani reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation in various areas, supported by existing agreements and Memoranda of Understanding. He highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and proposed increased interaction between parliamentary friendship groups of both countries.

Chairman Gilani also addressed broader issues such as regional peace, the Afghan refugee situation, and Pakistan’s global peace efforts. He stressed the need for dialogue and negotiations as means to resolve conflicts and reiterated Pakistan’s role in hosting Afghan refugees, calling for international cooperation.

Economic and trade relations were also discussed, with a focus on expanding bilateral trade and investment ties.
