Rohri Railway Station Upgradation Project Launched with Rs. 1.33 Billion Investment


Sukkur, Rohri: Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, and Sindh Minister for Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, inaugurated the upgradation of the Rohri Railway Station, marking the beginning of a project aimed at transforming the 150-year-old facility into a modern junction.



According to Press Information Department, the foundation stone was laid during a visit by the ministers to Rohri Junction, where Hanif Abbasi highlighted the project’s swift progress due to institutional cooperation. He emphasized the development in Sukkur, pointing out the presence of universities and public hospitals in the region. The upgrade is valued at Rs. 1.33 billion and is expected to be completed in six months.



The ministers extended gratitude to Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif and the Chief Minister of Sindh for their support. Abbasi also mentioned the management of railway hospitals under partnership models to ensure free medical treatment for employees. Additionally, he noted the Thar Coal project’s advancement to Rs. 90 billion, with plans for its inauguration soon.



Abbasi discussed the extension of the ML-1 project to 480 kilometers, under the leadership of the Prime Minister and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Sindh Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah acknowledged the fulfillment of a long-standing demand for modern facilities at the Rohri Railway Station. He mentioned the upgrade of the Sukkur Express and the upcoming launch of the “Ho Jamalo Train” in collaboration with Pakistan Railways and the District Council.



The ministers were welcomed by Divisional Superintendent Railways Sukkur Division, Farman Ghani, along with officials of Pakistan Railways and representatives of Pakistan Muslim League (N).
