Quetta: In a move to standardize bread prices and increase consumer fairness, the District Price Control Committee of Quetta has revised the prices and weight of bread sold in the region. This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Anwar Kakar, with various stakeholders in attendance.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the committee deliberated extensively on the new pricing and weight guidelines for bread. Effective from tomorrow, the price for a 360-gram double loaf will be set at Rs. 40, while a 180-gram single loaf will cost Rs. 20. This adjustment not only aligns with fair pricing practices but also increases the weight from 330 grams to 360 grams, reflecting the administration’s commitment to enhancing value for consumers.
The district administration has warned that non-compliance with the new standards by tandoor owners will result in the sealing of their establishments. Moreover, the Tandoor Association is obligated not to support any baker who fails to adhere to the updated pricing and weight directives.
This policy change underscores the district’s dedication to ensuring that price controls are equitable and beneficial to all citizens, guaranteeing adherence across all baking facilities in the area.
