Qatar to Expand Investment in Pakistan’s Power and Housing Sectors


Islamabad, In a significant development, Qatar has shown a strong interest in expanding its investment in Pakistan, focusing on the power generation and housing sectors. This intent was conveyed during a meeting between the Qatar Fund for Development delegation, led by CEO Khalifa bin Jassem Al-Kuwari, and Pakistan’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Ahad Khan Cheema, held in Islamabad.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Qatari delegation, on a two-day visit to Pakistan, engaged in discussions aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation through technical level discussions. Minister Cheema highlighted the deep-rooted relations between the two nations, lauding Qatar’s contributions towards Pakistan’s developmental efforts, particularly emphasizing the strategic importance of collaboration in the water sector.



The Minister also acknowledged the Qatar Fund for Development’s role during challenging times and congratulated Al-Kuwari on receiving a Civil Award from the President of Pakistan. On his part, Al-Kuwari reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s path to recovery and prosperity, particularly through the development of climate-resilient infrastructure. He also expressed gratitude for the Civil Award and extended congratulations on Pakistan Day.



This engagement signifies a promising direction for future collaborations between Pakistan and Qatar, highlighting the potential for substantial Qatari investment in critical sectors of Pakistan’s economy.
