Islamabad, In a significant move to bolster bilateral ties, a delegation from the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), led by its Chief Executive Officer H.E. Mr. Khalifa bin Jassem Al-Kuwari, embarked on a two-day visit to Pakistan, engaging in pivotal discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation in various development projects. The visit, which included meetings with Pakistan’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Mr. Ahad Khan Cheema, underscored the strong relationship between Qatar and Pakistan and the mutual interest in expanding collaboration in the power generation and housing sectors.
According to Press Information Department, the delegation’s visit on 23rd March 2024 to the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad was marked by discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the development of mega projects in the water sector. Minister Cheema lauded the contributions of the State of Qatar and QFFD to Pakistan’s development and expressed gratitude for Qatar’s significant pledge of US$ 25.00 million to aid the flood affectees of 2022. Additionally, Mr. Cheema acknowledged Mr. Al-Kuwari’s contributions to Pakistan, highlighted by the Civil Award conferred by the President of Pakistan.
H.E. Mr. Al-Kuwari expressed QFFD’s interest in expanding its involvement in Pakistan, particularly in the areas of power generation and housing, and reiterated the fund’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s recovery and prosperity through investments in climate-resilient infrastructure. Both parties agreed to initiate technical level discussions to further enhance their cooperative efforts.
The visit not only reaffirmed the enduring partnership between Qatar and Pakistan but also set the stage for future collaborations that aim to support Pakistan’s developmental aspirations and infrastructure resilience.
