Lahore: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has reported a 31% increase in tax collection during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, marking a significant rise from the previous year. The authority collected Rs. 87 billion, surpassing the Rs. 66.3 billion collected in the same period last year, setting a new record for quarterly tax collection.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, an important meeting was convened under the chairmanship of PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra to discuss annual revenue targets. The meeting focused on sector-wise revenue targets, tax returns, and the performance of officers.
The Chairman emphasized the need for thorough scrutiny of records to combat tax fraud and evasion. He noted that efforts to expand the tax net and enhance digital monitoring, as directed by the Chief Minister Punjab, are yielding results. The implementation of the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (e-IMS) and measures to improve tax compliance have also contributed to the increased revenue. Furthermore, the PRA is broadening its efforts against tax embezzlement and the issuance of fake receipts.
