Lahore: The Punjab Police inaugurated its eighth batch of student internships on Tuesday, with an official ceremony at the Central Police Office under the guidance of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar. The program welcomed 38 students from Lahore Garrison University, aiming to deepen their understanding of various policing functions over a six-week period.
According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 24 September 2024, the event featured a detailed briefing by AIG Training Faisal Mukhtar, who outlined the structure and objectives of the internship. Mukhtar explained that the students would be grouped into rotation teams, providing them a comprehensive exposure to different branches of the police force including the Information Technology, Counter Terrorism Department, Special Branch, Safe City Authority, and Investigation Branch.
The internship is designed to integrate students into field formations where they will engage in activities related to field policing, crime prevention, and public service delivery projects. Over the course of their training, interns are expected to gather valuable insights and practical knowledge, which they will compile into reports to be presented at the program’s concluding ceremony.
Highlighting the benefits of the initiative, Mukhtar emphasized the program’s role in bridging the gap between academic studies and real-world applications, thereby aiding in the career development of the participants. This initiative is part of the Punjab Police’s broader Youth Engagement Programs that operate across all regions and districts, aiming to foster direct engagement with students in the fields of education and research.
