LAHORE: In anticipation of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Punjab Police, under the directive of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, has launched a significant crackdown on criminal activities across the province. In a 24-hour operation, authorities arrested 46 members of 19 criminal gangs, along with 316 proclaimed offenders, 89 court fugitives, and 78 habitual criminals.
A spokesperson for the Punjab Police reported the recovery of 95 weapons, including Kalashnikovs, pistols, rifles, revolvers, and guns, alongside hundreds of bullets. In addition to the arms, law enforcement also confiscated 35 motorcycles, 21 mobile phones, 81 cattle, 25 tolas of gold, and Rs 5 million in cash from the suspects.
The operations also led to the death of one robber, while three other suspects were apprehended in injured condition. Dr. Usman Anwar has instructed officers to maintain and intensify their efforts against criminal activities to ensure a safe environment for the upcoming Eid celebrations.
