Punjab Police Eliminate Notorious Dacoit in Dera Ghazi Khan Operation

Dera Ghazi Khan: In a decisive action late last night, Punjab Police neutralized a notorious dacoit involved in multiple robberies targeting passenger buses and trucks along the Indus Highway. The operation, led by local police units alongside elite and special operations teams, marked a significant clampdown on criminal activities plaguing the region.

According to Punjab Police, the incident unfolded when officers from Wahwa Police Station received a tip about the dacoits’ activities. The police engaged three motorcyclists attempting to flee towards the provincial border near the CRBC canal. The confrontation escalated near Basti Nagriya, resulting in an exchange of gunfire that left one dacoit dead and his accomplices fleeing into the night.

The deceased was identified as Eid Gul, a known criminal from South Waziristan. Alongside Gul’s body, police recovered a 30-bore pistol, stolen goods, and three motorcycles, evidencing the gang’s recent illicit activities. Efforts to capture the remaining dacoits are ongoing, with multiple raids being conducted in the area.

DPO Dera Ghazi Khan, Syed Ali, personally oversaw the operation, and his presence was noted by local residents who lauded the swift and effective response of the police. IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, praised the Dera Ghazi Khan Police for their courage and effectiveness, further instructing them to intensify targeted operations against criminals that threaten public safety and security.
