Lahore: In a significant operation against criminal networks, Punjab Police have apprehended 23 members of 10 different gangs within a span of 24 hours. The arrests, conducted under the guidance of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, also led to the recovery of 114 weapons, including Kalashnikovs, pistols, rifles, revolvers, and shotguns. Hundreds of bullets were seized as well.
The operation did not stop at weapon recovery. Authorities also confiscated 53 motorcycles, 21 mobile phones, 5 tolas of gold, and cash totaling 23 million rupees from the arrested individuals. These items were taken from the possession of the criminals, indicating the reach and impact of these gangs.
In addition to the gang members, Punjab Police arrested 318 proclaimed offenders, 189 judicial absconders, and 88 habitual criminals. The crackdown resulted in the deaths of two dacoits, while six others sustained injuries.
Dr. Usman Anwar has instructed officers to persist in their efforts against criminal activities. The operations reflect an ongoing commitment by the Punjab Police to tackle crime and enhance public safety in the region.
