Lahore: Punjab is taking a significant step towards establishing Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD)-free zones in a bid to enhance investment in the region. A meeting led by the Chairman of the Planning and Development Board, Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan, focused on identifying potential areas for these zones and emphasized the role of private sector engagement.
According to a statement by Planning and Development Board – Punjab, the meeting was attended by key officials, including Secretary Livestock, Mr. Saqib Ali Ateel, and Secretary P and D Board, Dr. Asif Tufail. The discussions centered around conducting a feasibility study to determine the practicability of creating FMD-free zones.
Other notable attendees included Chief Economist Mr. Masood Anwar, Member Agriculture Mr. Aslam Javaid, and Chief Agriculture Mr. Waqas Ranjha. The initiative aims to boost the region’s economic landscape by eliminating the risks associated with FMD, thereby attracting more investment.
