Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with Nokia Pakistan, commenced a significant Masterclass titled “5G and Beyond: Shaping the Future of Connectivity” today. This initiative marks a crucial development in the digital partnership between Pakistan and Malaysia, focusing on the transformative potential of 5G technology.
According to a statement by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the four-day event, running from February 17-20, gathers over 60 industry leaders, policymakers, and academics. The Masterclass aims to explore 5G’s impact and enhance cross-border digital cooperation.
Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, highlighted the role of 5G in fostering innovation and economic growth. She described the workshop as an essential step towards realizing Pakistan’s digital goals. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, stressed the importance of 5G adoption for the nation’s long-term economic and technological advancement.
PTA Chairman, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, emphasized 5G as a gateway to innovation and progress, reaffirming the authority’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and empowering industries.
Mikko Lavanti, Senior Vice President Middle East and Africa, Nokia Mobile Network, reiterated Nokia’s dedication to Pakistan’s digital transformation, identifying 5G as a key driver of economic growth.
H.E Amb. Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, noted the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) role in fostering international partnerships and advancing 5G adoption to build a skilled workforce for digital transformation.
The Masterclass includes technical sessions, panel discussions, and knowledge-sharing activities, setting the stage for future technological advancements and cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia. Through this partnership, PTA and MCMC aim to drive innovation, foster knowledge-sharing, and strengthen digital capabilities in both countries.
