Jammu, Residents of the Rajouri area in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir staged a significant protest against the local authorities’ indifference to their urgent needs, including the lack of electricity and drinking water.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstration, which included a substantial number of women from the Palma area of Rajouri district, was a direct response to the ongoing electricity and drinking water crisis that has plagued their community. Protesters blocked the Rajouri Kotranka road at Palma, halting vehicular movement as a form of protest.
The community’s frustration stemmed from enduring over two weeks without electricity, with no effective response from the concerned departments to address the issue. “There is no electricity in the village for the last 20 days, but the concerned field staff of the department is not showing any concern toward the grievance of people despite the fact that they have been requested time and again to look into the matter,” stated the demonstrators. In addition to the power outage, they highlighted the severe water scarcity affecting their daily lives.
The protest underscores the ongoing neglect by the authorities in addressing basic utilities and services, reflecting a broader issue of administrative apathy in the region.
