Prime Minister Voices Support for UN’s Peace Efforts in Call with Secretary-General Candidate

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of adhering to the United Nations Charter and implementing international agreements to ensure global peace during a phone call with Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, the candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General and Guyana’s Permanent Representative to the UN.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening multilateralism and supported the UN’s crucial role in maintaining global peace and security. He also called for increased international collaboration to achieve global development goals. Rodrigues-Birkett praised Pakistan’s significant contributions to the UN and expressed gratitude for Sharif’s leadership in promoting regional peace and stability.

Following their conversation, Prime Minister Sharif took to social media platform X to reiterate Pakistan’s unwavering support for a more robust and effective UN. He noted his productive discussion with Rodrigues-Birkett and acknowledged her commendation of Pakistan’s efforts toward regional peace.
