Prime Minister Stresses Unity for Pakistan’s Progress


LONDON: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of collective efforts and national unity in achieving rapid progress and prosperity for Pakistan. Speaking to the media in London, he highlighted the role of overseas Pakistanis in the country’s development.



The Prime Minister praised the inaugural annual overseas Pakistanis Convention in Islamabad, describing it as a significant step towards reconnecting expatriates with their homeland. The event serves as a platform for overseas Pakistanis to voice their concerns and seek resolutions.



Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the contributions of overseas Pakistanis, noting their efforts to enhance Pakistan’s global reputation. He highlighted their economic impact, with remittances showing a substantial increase this year.



Addressing queries about his recent Belarus visit, the Prime Minister announced an agreement to send 150,000 skilled Pakistani workers to Belarus, strengthening bilateral ties.



In response to questions about regional security, Shehbaz Sharif urged Afghanistan’s interim government to comply with the Doha Accord, which prohibits terrorist activities from Afghan soil. He expressed concerns over groups like the TTP operating from Afghanistan, emphasizing the need for action against these entities.



The Prime Minister reiterated the sacrifices made by Pakistanis, including the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, in combating terrorism. He called on Afghan authorities to prevent terrorist organizations from using their territory for harmful activities, underscoring the importance of regional stability.
