ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the launch of the AI-based Prime Minister Office System (PMOS), signaling a shift from traditional paper-based methods to digital processes for government operations. He emphasized the need for immediate implementation, directing relevant authorities to ensure the transition.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister described the system as a digital platform designed to enhance governance by efficiently recording, monitoring, and tracking directives from the Prime Minister. He indicated that government officials would no longer be expected to carry physical files, as all communications and discussions would be conducted digitally through the new system.
During the launch ceremony, Prime Minister Sharif commended Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and the Secretary IT for their roles in developing the system. He urged all government ministries and departments to adopt the platform, highlighting its potential to improve governmental efficiency and effectiveness.
The Prime Minister received a detailed briefing on the platform’s objectives, which include integrating artificial intelligence into decision-making and implementation monitoring. The system aims to ensure efficient communication of directives and enable timely implementation in line with quality standards.
PMOS is presented as a secure, technology-driven decision-support platform that integrates analytics within a protected IT environment. It is expected to facilitate continuous policy adjustment by enabling the optimal use of technological, human, and financial resources, thereby enhancing economic outcomes.
The government plans to use the system as a foundation for governance reform, starting at the Prime Minister’s Office and eventually extending across the broader administrative framework. A key feature of PMOS is its comprehensive digital repository, which will serve as both an institutional knowledge base and a permanent record of government decision-making.
