Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with the UK’s National Security Adviser, Jonathan Powell, at the Prime Minister House, where discussions focused on strengthening ties between the United Kingdom and Pakistan. The meeting underscored a mutual desire to enhance cooperation across various sectors, as both nations aim to build on their longstanding strategic partnership.

According to Press Information Department, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sen. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with other senior officials, attended the meeting. Prime Minister Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to a forward-looking engagement with the UK and extended best wishes to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. The conversation followed a previous telephone exchange between the two leaders, highlighting their shared intent to deepen bilateral relations.

Powell expressed the UK government’s appreciation for Pakistan’s role in regional diplomacy and its efforts toward facilitating dialogue and de-escalation. He also conveyed interest in expanding bilateral cooperation in security, trade, investment, and development, acknowledging Pakistan’s economic reform efforts.
