Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Calls for National Unity Amid Challenges


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the importance of unity and harmony across Pakistan to confront and overcome the nation’s pressing challenges. His remarks came during his address at the Ulema and Mashaikh Conference held in Islamabad today, where he discussed the vital collaboration between political and constitutional institutions.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the exemplary cooperation between various governmental sectors, asserting its significance for the country’s future. He urged religious scholars from different sects to promote peace and brotherhood, while speaking out against divisiveness and the misuse of social media against the country’s security forces.



In his speech, the Prime Minister also reflected on the historical sacrifices made during the founding of Pakistan under Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s leadership, calling for continued efforts to realize the vision of the nation’s founders. He acknowledged the economic struggles facing the country, mentioning a subsidy initiative that reallocates fifty billion rupees to help electricity consumers manage costs, though he admitted that more needs to be done to alleviate the burden on the populace.



Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, the guest of honor, also spoke at the conference, reinforcing the themes of unity and national service.



Furthermore, Minister for Religious Affairs Chaudhry Salik Hussain urged the assembled religious leaders to counteract extremist ideologies that misinterpret Islam and disrupt national peace. He also advocated for an awareness campaign aimed at protecting minority rights.
