IG Sindh Launches Special Branch Verification App to Streamline Citizen Services

Karachi: IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon inaugurated a new verification application developed by the Special Branch Sindh, aimed at enhancing public access to various services, including arms license applications and character certificate verifications. The launch event highlighted the app’s potential to simplify and secure the process for citizens seeking critical verifications and permissions directly from their homes.

According to Sindh Police, the unveiling took place during IG Memon’s visit to the Special Branch, attended by senior officials including Additional IG, DIG, and SSPs. DIG Special Branch detailed the app’s features, noting its capacity to handle applications for airport entry passes, employment verifications, and NGO assessments, all available online. The application is part of broader anti-crime initiatives discussed at the event, reflecting significant strides in crime reduction and law enforcement efficiency in Karachi.

The briefing also included a comparative analysis of intelligence reports from the past year, revealing a notable decrease in street crimes and successful crackdowns on organized crime activities such as smuggling and the illegal movement of drugs. This progress is attributed to the Special Branch’s comprehensive reporting and accountability measures, which have also led to the dismantling of networks involved in tampering with the IMEI numbers of stolen mobile phones.

IG Memon emphasized the importance of developing a digital data bank to track criminals and criminal gangs, suggesting that the integration of modern technology and digital intelligence tools is crucial for the Special Branch’s effectiveness in crime suppression. He urged the department to adopt modern techniques and propose further strategies to enhance the Special Branch’s capabilities in meeting current security challenges.
