ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan held a telephone conversation to exchange Eid-ul-Fitr greetings as tensions continue in the Gulf region. The leaders called for unity among the Muslim community and discussed the importance of dialogue in resolving ongoing hostilities.
According to Radio Pakistan, during the conversation, Prime Minister Sharif extended Eid-ul-Fitr wishes to President Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan. President Aliyev reciprocated the greetings to the people of Pakistan. The discussion touched upon the current hostilities in Iran and the Gulf region, with Prime Minister Sharif condemning attacks against Azerbaijan and expressing solidarity with the nation.
Both leaders emphasized the need for de-escalation and encouraged dialogue and diplomacy to address outstanding issues. They also expressed satisfaction with the current state of Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
