Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing regional peace and security during a telephone call with Iran’s President, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian.
According to Radio Pakistan, the conversation between the two leaders lasted approximately forty-five minutes and included detailed discussions on the current regional situation. Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed gratitude to President Pezeshkian and the Iranian leadership for dispatching a high-powered delegation to Islamabad for talks earlier this month. The delegation was led by Speaker Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also updated President Pezeshkian on his recent interactions with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkiye, highlighting efforts to build a consensus for a sustained dialogue aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region. Additionally, the Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Iran’s constructive discussions with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir during his recent visit to Tehran.
The Iranian President acknowledged Pakistan’s dedication to the peace process and expressed optimism about the strengthening relationship between Iran and Pakistan in the future.
