Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the success of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as it enters its next phase, focusing on agriculture, information technology, industry, and mining. This declaration came during discussions with a high-level Chinese delegation led by Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Cai Dafeng. The delegation’s visit coincides with the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the transformative potential of CPEC in Pakistan’s socio-economic development and highlighted the strong, trust-based relationship between the two nations, rooted in strategic alignment on bilateral and regional matters. He extended greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, reaffirming Pakistan’s support for China’s core interests and expressing gratitude for China’s backing of Pakistan’s sovereignty.
In discussions on regional issues, Prime Minister Sharif lauded China’s efforts in promoting peace in South Asia and the Middle East, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability and cooperation. Vice Chairman Cai Dafeng expressed gratitude for the warm reception and affirmed China’s dedication to strengthening ties with Pakistan. He assured continued Chinese support for Pakistan’s regional peace initiatives and global stability efforts, underscoring the enduring partnership between the two countries as a crucial element for regional peace, development, and stability.
