Baku: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Baku for a two-day official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan. During his visit, Sharif is set to engage in high-level meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, expanding trade, and enhancing cooperation in various sectors.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the Prime Minister was welcomed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport by senior Azerbaijani officials, including First Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Abdulla o?lu Eyyubov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin, was also present to receive him.
Sharif will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and other senior officials to discuss a range of issues. The discussions will focus on expanding trade and investment, enhancing cooperation in the energy sector, and addressing climate change. Both countries are also looking to deepen defense collaboration and foster cultural exchanges.
Several Memorandums of Understanding and agreements are expected to be signed during this visit. These agreements aim to solidify the partnership between Pakistan and Azerbaijan and are a testament to the shared values and aspirations of the two nations.
As part of his visit, Sharif will address the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum alongside Azerbaijani leadership. The forum, scheduled for Monday, will bring together business leaders from both countries to explore avenues for joint ventures and business-to-business collaboration.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, among others.
