Islamabad: The Press Information Department (PID), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, organized a one-day workshop titled “Strengthening Climate Change Journalism” at the Information Services Academy (ISA) in Islamabad. The event aimed to improve the quality of climate reporting in Pakistan by equipping journalists with the latest knowledge and tools.

According to Press Information Department, the workshop featured sessions led by experts in the field, focusing on various aspects of climate change reporting. Dr. Adil Naseer from the All Pakistan Geo Scientists Association addressed community-based disaster risk mitigation, while Dr. Shaukat Ali from the Global Climate Change Impact Studies Centre discussed advances in climate science and effective media communication. Sessions on urban planning and climate finance were conducted by Mr. Shakeel Ramay of the Asian Institute of Eco-Civilization Research and Development and Dr. M. Rafique of the Pakistan Climate Change Authority, respectively. A practical session on climate reporting was led by Mr. Ghias Akram of the Media and Security Research Organization.

The workshop concluded with a ceremony where Ms. Raisa Adil, Executive Director General/Principal Information Officer of the Press Information Department, highlighted the crucial role of journalists during climate emergencies. Certificates were distributed to participants by the distinguished guests, including Ms. Samina Farzin and Ms. Ayesha Tassaduq from the Information Services Academy and the Press Information Department. The event underscored the need for collaborative efforts in addressing climate change challenges through responsible journalism.
