President Zardari Urges Action to Curb Food Loss and Waste

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized the need to tackle food loss and waste, extending from production and storage to distribution and consumption, amid ongoing concerns over food prices and household budgets.

According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari delivered this message on the International Day of Zero Waste, highlighting the broader implications of food waste, which not only affects economic stability but also results in the unnecessary use of resources such as water, land, energy, and labor.

President Zardari underscored the particular challenges faced by Pakistan as an agrarian economy, where substantial food losses occur between the farm and the market. He called for a comprehensive approach to reduce food waste, stressing the importance of cooperation among farms, markets, institutions, and homes to make meaningful progress in this area.
