President Zardari Prioritizes Strengthening Trade and Cultural Ties with Iran

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has instructed Pakistan’s newly appointed Ambassador to Iran, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, to focus on enhancing bilateral relations through increased trade and cultural exchanges. The directive aims to deepen ties between the two nations, emphasizing the importance of facilitating trade and fostering people-to-people connections, particularly for Pakistani visitors to Iran.

According to Radio Pakistan, the President highlighted the significance of the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Iran, which is underpinned by shared history, cultural connections, and a common border. He stressed the need to support legitimate cross-border trade and enhance connectivity to boost bilateral trade.

President Zardari urged Ambassador Siddiqui to actively engage with Iranian civil society, students, and local leaders, ensuring effective consular services for the Pakistani diaspora, students, and businesses in Iran. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to Iran’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and political independence, emphasizing collaboration for regional peace and stability.

The President expressed his confidence in Ambassador Siddiqui’s ability to strengthen Pakistan-Iran relations and congratulated him on his new role.
