Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to advancing a transportation system that is safe, sustainable, efficient, and environmentally friendly. Speaking via video link at the Global Sustainable Transport Forum-2024 in Beijing, he outlined Pakistan’s collaborative efforts with China aimed at achieving sustainable development goals that promote peace and prosperity.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari highlighted several initiatives underscoring this commitment. He detailed the introduction of pink buses, an initiative aimed at providing women with a safe, comfortable, and accessible public transportation option. Furthermore, he noted significant strides in improving rural connectivity, with ninety-two percent of rural areas now accessible via all-weather roads, a development he believes will support sustainable growth and enhance service delivery in rural communities.
