ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has underscored the collective duty of society to care for orphans, highlighting the importance of their education and upbringing.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari addressed an Iftar dinner at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, hosted in honor of orphans under the care of the Pakistan Orphan Care Forum. During his speech, he referred to children as the future of Pakistan and emphasized the necessity of providing orphans with modern educational opportunities in colleges and universities. He announced that scholarships would be allocated on a permanent basis for orphaned children.
The event was organized to commemorate Orphans Day, which is observed annually in the Islamic world during Ramadan. The day serves to raise awareness about the challenges faced by orphans and to promote social solidarity, comprehensive care, and protection for vulnerable children, especially those in conflict-affected regions. A significant number of orphaned boys and girls were in attendance at the ceremony.
